The Mexico-Cardenas Museum and Museum of the Alphabet commemorate the development of the written word and linguistic translation. Former Mexican President Lazaro Cardenas' contributions to decoding the languages of indigenous peoples are honored at the Cardenas Museum. The Museum of the Alphabet visually traces the history of the written word from its origins to present day. Both museums are located in the JAARS Center 5 miles south of Waxhaw and 20 miles south of Charlotte.
